The firm was retained to provide site planning and design for the horse
racetrack at the Tulsa County Fairgrounds. Work included final plans and
specifications for bidding and construction. Design features included
extensive grading and drainage. The track cross-section was designed to
provide drainage through the track with an underdrain system which connected
to the main storm drainage system. The track running surface was designed
as a special blend of sand and clay and silt to provide a good running
surface for the horses under a variety of weather conditions. The project
included a series of reinforced concrete retaining walls which were necessary
due to the close fit of the track on the limited site.
Extensive turfing specifications were prepared for the large areas to
be seeded and sodded. Water and sanitary sewer connections were provided.
Water service included an 8" fire flow meter and vault.
Project List
The firm planned and designed an earthen dam to impound a 180-acre lake
for recreation purposes. Flood control is an additional benefit of the
system will provide.
An engineering study was made to run the hydraulic and hydrology calculations
to show the project was feasible. The location and size of the dam was
determined. The dam will be approximately 2,600 feet long and 90 feet
high.
An extensive geotechnical investigation was performed to show the availability
of construction material and to provide design information on the dam
foundation and slope stability.
Surveying was accomplished with a combination of aerial topography and
in-house field crews.
In-house personnel designed the dam and appurtenances, including the spillway
and overflow structure. All work was done in compliance of Oklahoma Water
Resources Board requirements.
The firm will provide all normal services during construction. In addition,
resident inspection will be performed with involvement of a geotechnical
engineer. We will supervise the testing program during construction.
Project List
Since 1993, the firm has performed annual inspection and design services
for the four parking garages owned by the Tulsa Parking Authority - Main
Park Plaza, Civic Center Parkade, Williams South and Williams North.
Each year we conduct a thorough deck by deck inspection of each structure.
Such items as pavement cracks, spalling, cracks in beams, water damage,
signage, lights, ventilation systems, and many others are annotated. Destructive
and non-destructive testing is not a normal part of the inspection, but
can be done in special circumstances.
Inspection results are summarized in the annual report, which presents
a budget for repair for that year.
After the report is accepted, a fee is negotiated to prepare plans and
specifications for the repair work. Repair work normally includes concrete
deck patching, beam repair, crack routing and sealing, joint replacement,
epoxy injection crack repair, shotcrete repairs and other miscellaneous
items.
Careful record is kept of the repairs made. Each year as-built drawings
are maintained to keep a record of actual work done that year.
Project List
The firm prepared a detailed survey of the 40 acre Woodland Cemetery,
purchased in 1989 for expansion by Still Brook Corporation, along with
surveys of twenty acres adjacent to the cemetery.
We prepared planning documents for approval by the County Planning Agency
to permit a cemetery to be placed on this new twenty acre site.
We prepared a topographic survey of the site and prepared a planning map
for future additions on the twenty acres which included a lake, mausoleum,
and crypt sites, along with regular burial spaces. The first phase of
the new addition was a two acre family plot along with a new road and
landscaping plan.
Project List
Grotto Park is an existing urban park bordered by residential neighborhoods
on three sides and Newton Street to the North. The park is further divided
East/West by a tributary of Coal creek, which serves as an overflow during
peak capacity of the creek. The property which comprises Grotto Park is
all within the 100-year flood plain.
The program for the Grotto Park improvements included a floodway analysis
of the existing tributary, the design of a pedestrian bridge to link to
the North and South side of the park, extension of a jogging path, design
of a twenty space parking area, a playground area and four picnic areas
with permanent grills and furniture. The facility improvements were designed
to comply with current Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
